Introducing NextStage CFO

Today, I am officially launching the website for my new CFO consulting firm, NextStage CFO.  This is easily one of the most exciting and energizing endeavors of my career, as for the first time, I step away from the relative security of an established company and venture into entrepreneurship.

My motivation to strike out on my own comes from my belief that there is a better way to drive positive change to founder led businesses.  Through NextStage CFO/this new venture, I will focus on early stage, high growth organizations, where founders and their teams must be entrepreneurial, challenges are frequent, and change is almost constant.  At this stage, I can most effectively bring my new vision and high-growth experience where and when needed most.  Ensuring companies can make the best decisions earlier and avoid the expense of self-correcting later.

Long-range and cash forecasts, budgets, and financial reporting development – Accurate and meaningful forecasts and financial reporting are critical to the successful management of a high-growth organization.  Working in multiple private equity backed organizations, I have developed a real understanding of investor reporting needs, including how an organizations’ financials can impact valuations.  By working with NextStage CFO, you connect to a partner that knows how to properly guide a high growth organizations’ forecast and reporting development as the company matures and prepares for new funding. 

Finance infrastructure design and implementation – I have been directly involved in the successful design and development of the accounting and finance infrastructure for every company I have worked in over the last 20 years.  I have implemented new ERP systems on 4 occasions, as well as multiple other financial technologies: including data analysis cubes, cash automation, sales tax solutions, billing platforms, financial interfaces, etc.  Through my experience, I have learned how to identify what works best for a business.  I am skilled at designing ROI positive financial systems that maximize the appropriate amount of automation for the company, while fully supporting the organization’s long-term growth needs.  This allows the company to keep teams lean and focused on higher level tasks.

Accounting and finance team building – With 20 years’ experience in building and managing people in my organization, I have always been very involved in how the team is designed, built, managed and mentored.  These experiences have taught me that I am only successful when my team is successful, so I focus heavily on finding ways to develop and reward talent. 

A personal approach – My priority is on the work I am doing, the employees we support, the end customers we serve, and what we can achieve as a group.  My philosophy is that if you keep customers and employees front and center in your strategic focus, the results will always exceed that which is achieved from a narrow focus on revenue and cash.
